Updating a Trade Bundle

Introduction

You can update Trade Bundles with The Trade Evaluator. Updating a Trade Bundle encompasses adding new trades, modifying existing trades and deleting trades from a Trade Bundle.

Adding Trades

We can add trades to a Trade Bundle either by entering them directly or by importing them.

Via Manual Entry

  1. Select Trade Evaluator from the Start Menu
  2. Select the Trade Bundle to add trades to
  3. Click ‘Add Trade’ to manually add individual trades

Below we can see the Enter Trade window, where can enter the Ticker symbol, the Date, the Type (Buy or Sell), and the Quantity. The Price will default to the close price of the date selected or current price if today’s date is selected, the price can also be edited. We can also enter any trading fees.

Once we have entered the trade, we can click on ‘Add’ to add another trade or ‘Add and Finish’ if we have entered all our trades for the date selected.

Note: The Total Amount is calculated when we enter Price and Quantity. However as we we below when we enter Price and Total Amount, Stock Rover calculates the Quantity.

Via Import

The Import option allows us to import using the trades from an existing Stock Rover Portfolio or from an external .CSV or .XLSX file that we have populated with trades.

  1. Select Trade Evaluator from the Start Menu
  2. Select the Trade Bundle to update
  3. Click the Actions pulldown and select ‘Import Trades to [Bundle Name]’

Importing from an Existing Stock Rover Portfolio

This option allows you to quickly update the Trade Bundle with trades from a Stock Rover Portfolio.

  1. Select Existing Stock Rover Portfolio
  2. Select a Source Portfolio
  3. Optionally select a date range of trades
  4. Optionally select trades of specific tickers

Once completed, we can click on ‘Add Trades’.

Note: A popup will show indicating the number of trades imported, and whether there were any duplicate trades. Note that duplicate trades will not be imported.

Importing from an External File

This option allows you to quickly update the Trade Bundle with either a .CSV or .XLSX file containing trades.

  1. Select External File
  2. Select a .CSV or .XLSX File

Once completed, we can click on ‘Add Trades’.

Note: A popup will show indicating the number of trades imported, and whether there were any duplicate trades. Note that duplicate trades will not be imported.

The .CSV or .XLSX file must contain a row for each trade and a title row containing the headings:

Ticker, Date, Action, Quantity, Price, Fees

Each trade row contains:

  1. A valid ticker
  2. The trade date in the format YYYY-MM-DD or MM/DD/YYYY
  3. The trade action – “Buy” or “Sell”
  4. The trade quantity
  5. The buy or sell price
  6. Optionally the commission or fees for the trade

Modifying Trades

Any of the the trades in a Trade Bundle can be modified.

  1. Select Trade Evaluator from the Start Menu
  2. Select the Trade Bundle to modify
  3. Click on ‘Detail’ to show the individual trades
  4. Scroll to the right of the trade you would like to modify and click the Edit button

We can modify the Date, the Type (Buy or Sell), and the Quantity. The Price will default to the close price of the date selected or current price if today’s date is selected, the price can also be modified. We can also enter any trading fees.

Note: The Total Amount is calculated when we enter Price and Quantity. However, we enter Price and Total Amount Stock Rover calculates the Quantity.

Once we have modified the trade, we can click on ‘Save’.

Deleting Trades

We can delete by position and we can also delete by trades.

  1. Select Trade Evaluator from the Start Menu
  2. Select the Trade Bundle to delete trades from
  3. To delete by position select ‘Summary’
  4. To delete by trade select ‘Detail’
  5. Click on the appropriate “X” in the Remove column to delete

If we accidently delete and then want to bring the removed position(s) or trade(s) back into the session click on ‘Undo Delete’.

Clicking ‘Undo Delete’ multiple times will restore trades in the order of deletion, trade by trade, going from the latest deletion back towards the first deletion.
